Overview of Student Leadership Positions

The Office of Student Affairs offers many leadership opportunities for specialized clubs and organizations as well as representation for the entire student body. Some positions require more time and allow travel to national conferences, so these roles have a higher GPA requirement.

Student Government Association (SGA)

The following positions require a 3.0 cumulative GPA and good academic standing.

  • Elected President
  • Elected Vice President
  • Elected Secretary
  • Elected Treasurer
  • OMS I-IV Class President
  • OMS I-IV Class President

Any student who falls below the 3.0 GPA will be required to step down from their office upon request from the Office of Student Affairs.

Student Osteopathic Medicine Association (SOMA)

The following positions require a 3.0 cumulative GPA and good academic standing.

  • Elected President
  • Elected Vice President
  • Elected Secretary
  • Elected Treasurer
  • National Liaison Officer
  • Pre-SOMA Officer
  • Overdose Prevention Task Force Leader

Any student who falls below the 3.0 GPA will be required to step down from their office upon request from the Office of Student Affairs.

CHSU-COM Chapter of the Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons of California (OPSC)

The following positions require a 3.0 cumulative GPA and good academic standing.

  • Elected President
  • Elected Vice President
  • Elected Secretary
  • Elected Treasurer
  • Education Coordinator

Any student who falls below the 3.0 GPA will be required to step down from their office upon request from the Office of Student Affairs.

Special Interest Clubs and Organizations

All other student club and organization leadership will adhere to the following guidelines.

  • President- 3.0 GPA and good academic standing
  • Vice President- 3.0 GPA and good academic standing
  • Secretary- 2.5 GPA and good academic standing
  • Treasurer- 2.5 GPA and good academic standing
  • Special Committee Lead: 2.5 and good academic standing
    • Excluding SOMA Overdose Prevention Task Force Leader and OPSC Education Coordinator.
  • Returning Students from Academic Suspension: Students interested in the positions of Secretary, Treasurer and Special Committee Lead will be required to maintain good academic progress (completion of all courses, not appearing to full SPC committee) and is eligible to be off Academic Probation by the end of their returning year. They must also have and maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA. Students who are returning from academic suspension will not be eligible for leadership positions of President or Vice President unless they are off Academic Probation and have above a 3.0 GPA.
  • Student Ambassadors: Students who are interested in becoming a CHSU-COM Student Ambassador must maintain the GPA outlined on the application and maintain good academic standing by not falling on Academic Warning or Academic Probation.

Any student who falls below the required cumulative GPA will be required to step down from their office upon request from the Office of Student Affairs.
